Superb reproduction of a Mesopotamian Idol in sandstone, the original of which dates back to 4000 BC. These idols were frequently used as votive offerings and also served as portable amulets in ancient Mesopotamia (especially when they were small in size).
This one represents the human figure in an abstract way, with only the presence of two eyes symbolising the ability to see or communicate with the deities... Hand-carved by our craftsmen in our workshops, it has been given a patina to give it the cachet of the period.
