DAVOY MUST-HAVES

ARTISTIC CURIOSITIES

Take advantage of the classic spirit of 19th-century Parisian artists' studios and discover our Collection of academic statues and models to collect without moderation!

Love

Beautiful XIXth century sculpture representing “Love” as an angel, very probably attributed to the French sculptor, Vissot. Inspired by Italian Art which was particularly apreciated by contemporary artists, our very charming Cherub in love seems to hesitate a little. Which one shall I choose?

Academic Foot

This very large-format academic foot comes from an old Parisian sculpture workshop and is stamped "Atelier Soulage & Fils, Paris 1884". It is probably a fragment of a statue of Hercules, son of Zeus, a hero of extraordinary strength whose adventures have spanned the ages.

Hand study

Originally, this oversized hand was a plaster work by an unknown artist of the 19th century. Before making the final edition in bronze, artists often made plaster models that were numbered and signed. This one was found in the cellar of a foundry without any clue as to its creator. However, it still offers us this unknown artist's talent

Sacred Heart from a Chapel

Faithful reproduction of the Sacred Heart with a halo, typical of religious statues favored in the 19th century from Rome to Lourdes...and Paris, where the reknowned Maison Raffl implemented a molding technique which led to democratization of these statues.

This is a rare example because of its high size, its crown and its colours.

The Holy Family from a Chapel
